The Black Friday public action in Kumanovo, organised by CID – Center for Intercultural Dialogue, brought together young people, volunteers, and members of the public to raise awareness about overconsumption and promote more conscious and responsible consumer choices. Taking place in late November 2025, the activity was designed as an open, participatory action that combined reflection, creativity, and direct engagement with the local community.
The activity began with a preparatory meeting and an open discussion led by members of the Movers & Shakers group, focusing on the impacts of Black Friday, consumer culture, and sustainable lifestyles. Participants reflected on their own habits and jointly defined key messages for the action. This was followed by a creative session where young volunteers developed sticker ideas and designs addressing overconsumption and mindful choices. After printing and preparing the materials, participants moved into public spaces across Kumanovo, placing the stickers in visible locations and engaging in informal conversations with citizens.
Through direct interaction, young people responded to questions, shared perspectives, and encouraged reflection on everyday consumption practices. The action concluded with a short reflection and closing at the youth center, allowing participants to exchange impressions and lessons learned. Overall, the activity strengthened critical thinking around consumer habits, increased local awareness of sustainable choices, and empowered young volunteers to take an active role in civic engagement and public awareness campaigns.
