On 28 November 2025, CID – Center for Intercultural Dialogue organised an online youth panel focused on Black Friday, consumerism, and sustainable lifestyles, bringing together young people and volunteers for open discussion and reflection. The activity was part of the wider NoLabel Panels series and aimed to create a safe space for critical thinking and youth-led dialogue.
The session began with a welcome and a short introduction to the panel series, followed by a video screening explaining the origins and development of Black Friday. This set the basis for a moderated panel discussion, led by Florin Rexhepi, who guided participants through key topics such as overconsumption, marketing pressure, and the social and environmental consequences of excessive buying. An open discussion allowed participants to actively share opinions, question dominant consumer trends, and reflect on their own purchasing habits.
Throughout the panel, young people engaged openly and critically, showing increased awareness of how Black Friday influences consumption patterns and everyday choices. The discussion encouraged participants to explore alternative, more conscious approaches to consumption and to think about their role as informed consumers. The session concluded with a joint reflection and closing, successfully wrapping up the NoLabel Panels series in North Macedonia and reinforcing CID’s role as a local hub for youth dialogue on sustainability and responsible consumption.
