The No Label Fashion Week and Style Hackathon in Sečovce, Slovakia, organised by EDU4U, transformed sustainable fashion from a theoretical concept into a lived and creative experience for young people and the wider community. Taking place on 23 May 2025 and during Fashion Week from 10–14 June 2025, the activities engaged 163 participants and reached even more students through school-wide visibility actions.
The programme combined introductory lectures on sustainable fashion, fast versus slow fashion, textile waste, and conscious consumption with interactive discussions, videos, quizzes, and reflection activities. Throughout No Label Fashion Week, young people took part in daily themed outfit challenges that promoted reuse, restyling, and creativity, sparking informal peer exchange and conversation across the school. The activities culminated in a student-led Sustainable Fashion Show, where participants presented pre-loved, thrifted, and restyled outfits, alongside a mannequin styling challenge that actively involved the audience.
By encouraging hands-on participation, creativity, and peer learning, the activity strengthened critical thinking around fashion trends, marketing, and greenwashing, while offering practical tools such as capsule wardrobes and cost-per-wear concepts. Teachers and youth workers observed higher motivation and engagement compared to traditional learning formats, as participants gained confidence, expressed themselves publicly, and reflected on their own consumption habits. Overall, the Fashion Week and Hackathon demonstrated that sustainable fashion can be accessible, creative, and relevant to everyday life, while fostering dialogue, self-expression, and long-term awareness within the school community and beyond.
